Annie Diamantidis is our latest designer we’ve interviewed out of Chicago. She’s had quite a bit of success and celebrity press!
What are your top three sellers?
My top three sellers are my “Nyx” clutch, “Helius” shoulder bag and Damia satchel.
What’s your favorite Greek myth? Tale?
Athena, the Goddess of wisdom and war. Her strength, courage and wisdom is an inspiration for all women.
What’s your favorite material to work with?
Exotic skins are my favorite material. I find that each skin is unique in texture and has its own unique design. In particular, my favorite skin to work with would be stingray. It can be described as a cluster of pearls. So unique and durable, it makes for a great handbag that will last for many years to come.
What was your favorite celebrity to work with?
I love working with all my celebrities, but if I had to narrow it down it would be Jodie Sweetin. I have worked with her and her stylist on a few special projects. Jodie loves to play with fashion and nothing is off limits. I was asked to make her one of my signature cat minaudieres that she carried on the orange carpet at the Kids Choice Awards. I also made a black apple minaudie?re for her that she carried on the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards.
We see that you work with a few charities. What’s the best way our readers can get involved to help out?
I love to give back to the community. Especially organizations that help women and children. I partner up with local Chicago organizations such as:
Who do you envision carrying your bags?
I cater to women that are looking for the perfect balance of luxury and practicality. Although my handbags are made with luxurious materials, when I design, I make sure they are practical. I cater to the lifestyle of a busy mom, working professional and women who like to carry a glamorous and unique piece of art that will accent even the simplest evening outfit. Annie Handbag designs have been built for practicality and accessibility with unique essentials of having the options of multiple straps to give a busy woman multiple custom carrying options.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I find inspiration from women that I work with. Throughout the years I’ve met clients while doing trunk shows and private events. I have learned firsthand, what women are looking for in a handbag. I also find inspiration when I travel and find treasures that I later incorporate into my handbags. This is why some of my bags and accessories may be “one of a kind”.
What drives you to design your bags?
The thank you emails, letters and phone calls I receive when my clients receive their handbags. Comments like “this is my favorite bag” or “this is exactly what I was looking for” is the ultimate motivator for me. Also, when I get referrals from clients that have worn my bags that receive compliments.
