Welcome to the BagBirdy.com handbag and purse repair directory page for the county of New Zealand! Below you will find artisans and professionals that can take care of your bags. They are experts at repair and restoration.
Many of the bag repair shops below are first and foremost shoe repair shops – but don’t worry! They know how to repair bags, zippers, purses and most leather items.
This store has pretty good reviews (except for perhaps the parking situation). And as a plus, this shop also focuses on bag repair.
From the shop:
Bennetts shoe service was opened on its present site in 1941. Ted Bennett had previously trained as an apprentice with Rex Ferry at Ferrys Shoe Store in Crinnan Street, and moved to 169 Tay Street to go it on his own. There were approximately 20-25 boot makers in Invercargill in 40’s and 50’s.
Today Bennetts Shoe Service is the only remaining shop in Southland.
Over the years there have been as many changes out the shop window as there have been employees come and go.
Ted Bennett retired in March, 1996, after 50 years in the trade. I started in the summer of 1986 as “the boy” learning the many smaller aspects of being in the trade i.e. deliveries, customer service, and cleaning the toilet(generally doing “boy” things).
