We have a special guest, Jenn, who will be talking about the J Crew Signet bag.
This is the J Crew Signet bag. It’s a cross body with a long strap, camera bag style, very boxy and square.
The reason I bought this bag is that I thought it was really cute and classic. It’s a really simple “go-with-anything” type of bag. I liked that J Crew offered monogramming which is only offered online and not at the store.
I got mine monogrammed in the front and costs $10 extra. They stated that monogramming would add two weeks to the shipping time, but it only added two days so that was pretty nice.
The bag comes with this cute key fob. If you’d like, you can get the key fob monogrammed instead. I chose to get it on the bag.
This key fob, besides being really cute, is also functional. It holds these keys which goes to this lock on the side, which is detachable. What you can do is when you close up the bag there is a hole right here on the leather and you can lock it up. So if you’re traveling or something or scared about pickpocketing, you can lock it up. That’s a nice feature and makes it cute.
These bags come in different colors. I chose the brown one. All the different colors come with a different colored key fob. The different color kind of just makes it pop.
Now, onto the inside of the bag. It’s just a wide open bucket bag. The leather is really soft, that’s what I really like about it. It’s very pliable and it’s pebbled leather. It has a very rich leather look and I really like that. Because it’s so soft you can pry it open and you can handle and it moves.
The inside has a zippered pocket on one side and the other side there is an open pocket with a leather strip with “J Crew” on it and that also doubles as a little card holder. It’s very useful, I like all the pockets.
On the outside back, there is an open pocket; I use this for my phone. It’s kind of flat so I don’t like to put anything bulky in there.
I have read a couple reviews about this bag that people don’t like the stitching. There is a little bit of off-white color stitching just around the sides and the top around the zipper. It’s not in the front at all. The stitching is a slight contrast to the bag and it’s this color for all the different colored bags. I like it, I think it adds a cute detail. And depending on the color of the bag, you might not like it. That’s something to think about.
Since the bag is very soft, if you put too much stuff in it, it does sag on the bottom. That’s also something to consider.
I just like this bag because it’s very classic and I like the brown and gold combination, which is in. The hardware is all gold. It has cute little D-ring for the straps. It has a pretty hefty zipper pull which I like and it’s sturdy looking. The strap is adjustable it’s only a cross body. I guess you can do one shoulder but it’s really meant to be a cross body. You can make it longer by a couple inches.
The monogramming can come in silver, gold or no color it’ll be just embossed. Which is kind of cool.
I picked the gold monogram to match the gold hardware.
I think it’s a classy brown. I picked this color because I wanted an every-day-bag. I figured brown goes with everything. It is a more casual bag because it’s a cross body. I thought brown would goes with all seasons.
I’m enjoying the bag. I’ve had it for a couple weeks now and I’m still getting used to using it.
